In its conclusion that this tragedy was ‘not predictable’ today’s report reminds us that this was an extremely rare occurrence and that staff demonstrated enormous bravery during and after the attack."

Education charity encourages staff to share their mental health concerns

Teachers in Wales last year took almost 52,000 days off school due to stress-related illness, new figures have shown.

Research conducted by the National Union of Teachers (NUT) Cymru found that 12 of Wales’ 22 local authorities reported a rise in stress-induced teacher leave in 2015 .

The union’s secretary David Evans said the figures suggested Wales was “bordering on a crisis” in the teaching profession.’

Research conducted by City University in collaboration with Education Support Partnership seeks to find out how much teachers need their half term holiday.

Starting this May, academics from City University London will be conducted the second round of a valuable piece of research, conducted in close collaboration with the Education Support Partnership, looking into the psychological value of the school holidays for teacher health resilience and wellbeing.
