Santa Runners raise over £1000

On Sunday 4th December, we got festive for charity. Fourteen supporters and staff from Education Support Partnership donned Santa outfits and set off on a 5k run around Victoria Park in London.

It was a fantasically sunny day, if chilly, as our Santas warmed up for the race ahead. Our 12 Santa’s (plus a reindeer and a camel - don't ask!) then bounced through the park at various speeds.

A sea of red sped through the park with the echo of ho ho ho trailing behind 3,000 Santa’s. It was quite a sight to behold and the atmosphere was bell-rilliant.

The run certainly kept off the chilly winter frost, with the occasional Santa costume carried over the line due to the significant workout. Everyone was full of festive spirit and there were lots of waves and cheers to keep the runners going throughout.

All of our runners and walkers completed the challenge in under an hour. They were greeted at the finish line with a festive chocolate reindeer and a medal as their reward. Some of our younger runners even went to have their medals engraved. Nell and Rosa said:

"We loved doing the Santa Run. It was great fun and we have showed off our medals to all our friends."

At the end of the race, Francesca Trampleasure, Fundraising Assistant at Education Support Partnership said:

“It’s absolutely brilliant to see colleagues and supporters come together today for such an important cause. With January being the busiest month of the year for our helpline service, the Christmas break is vital for teachers and education staff. The money raised from the Santa Run will allow us to be there for everyone working in education this Christmas; a time when they need us most”.

With a fantastic £1077 raised so far, we would like to say a big thanks to our runners. All the money raised will help us to provide support to education staff at breaking point. It's not too late to sponsor us - visit our JustGiving page to donate.

Have a cracking Christmas everybody!
